TILT Meeting on Value

On achieving your goal

  1.  It is very important to state your intention say writing on public forum like facebook, linkedin, then Universe gives you that.

On Value:

  1. It is something which can be tradeoff like in money, future help, love, respect.
  2. It is a skill, talent, or something your have, for which people are willing to pay for it.
  3. Payment could be in cash, future help, respect, love...
  4. People if not willing to pay you for what you have, it means that is not value. It can be just talent but definitely not value.
On Value Indicators

  1. Your value indicator could be people are coming to you for some purpose. Causiously understand what is that and then tap it and map it.


# Good network is one of the important value

# Driving the conversation or anchoring could be value

# Value can be connect with industry, taking responsibility, giving time to self, binding people together

# Anwer to complex solution, lot of mentoring

# how people perceve you is also a value

# Value can be increased or decreased by enhancer, diluter, damagers, multiplier.

# enhancers enhances your value

# diluters - reduce your value

# multipliers - winning award, knowing big people

# damagers - damage badly, diluter if not taken seriously will become damagers

# Learning new technology could become become multiplier for technical people

# Greeting everyone when you represent someone or coming to meeting. It enhances your value.

# while on stage, your diluter could be not finishing the speech properly, like thats it or ok. It should be finished correctly.

# Team 1 conclusion : Good listening, ownership in work, are the value indicator. You can coach or train people to convert it into cash.

# Team 2 conclusion by Utsa - Having uniquality i, approachable, people think they can benefit from you, are value

# Your degree is not your value |  don't feel shy to quote a price for your services

An Inspiring Diwali Celebration

Recently in our apartment there was event for Diwali  celebration. The start to end of the this Diwali event,  was highly motivating for me and I had lot to learn. I am going to share my learning here.

In our apartment two guys Sanjeev and Samba initiated to do Diwali event in our apartment this year. I along with 20 families committed to be part of it. Generally during Diwali, most people in our apartment stay in their flat and do puja but for this event they preferred not sign up for their own reason.

We started planning this event and then posted the complete plan into our association Whatsapp group. We did not see enough encouraging response as we were expecting.

During this time, when we don't get enough response, we are tend to get demotivated and prefer to stop doing anything further citing if none interested why we burn our time. But the questions is, can intention of doing this event was so weak that it can be demotivated just because of lack of enough participant at starting moment?

These two guys, Sanjeev and Sambe were not of that kind of people. They had a beautiful thought. That let everyone of apartment come down and celebrate Diwali in organised way.

They spend their countless hours in getting apartment common area neat and clean. They worked with association staff to do Diwali lighting and proper floodlighting so that people can use the area properly for cracker burst and safe themselves from any insects/snake [it was rainy day]. They did rangoli with the help of female member of association. They arranged sweets for everyone coming down for cracker burst or roaming and distributed. They stayed until 90% of crowd go back to their home. I felt it was a successful Diwali event. Their commitment were unquestionable.

Watching this event so closely, I had a lot of learning here as I writing below:

1. Your motivation should be purpose and it should not get demotivated just because there is no one to encourage you. You purpose should keep you charged and motivated.

2. Your purpose must be strong and noble.

3. You must know how to involve people by motivating them for the purpose. You can't do everything all alone. You will need people to support you on the way.

Something I learn which can improve this process:

It is highly impractical to keep yourself motivated despite no encouragement in any form. I think we need support on the way.

I think if we could have talked to individual, it could have done the magic. I learn this trick from Kavitha Garla who keep in touch with every Talk Temple members. I think the calling friends and their family or texting them instead of simply posting on whatsapp group, could have brought many more families and ask for their support. It could have made this event much better.

Overall there was lot to learn in Diwali event. Please do write your comment and how my association mates could have organised the event better.

Progress is life

Just to represent growth
Can we define life without progress? No, isn't it.


Let us take an example. When we plant a tree and then we see growth in it. The day it stops growing, we assume this is it's maximum height. Does it mean all tree from same type seed have same height. Why some tree of same seed grow more and some less. This is all logical but here my objective is to focus on human life.

As a human, we take birth. During initial days, we live on support system and the support system need reduces with time. We attain an age when we don't need support more or less. Then we prepare our self to support others. Say we create a baby and we provide support. and till the end of life we do the same and support more people. Grow society, family.

Also as a human, we have several vertical of growth, like personal relationship, caring for self, social relationship and professional growth. Many of the successful sportsman, always repeat that we can learn from everything. But what is the benefit of learning. Learning is no learning until we apply it.

The question pops up is where to apply our learning. In most cases, we read, see, listen and experience to get learning but we don't apply. Even if we apply it is in very minor quantity.

The prime reason is our current state. Knowing how you are working is half success. When we apply our learning, it transform our life. But the main reason why most people don't transform is afraid of knowing themselves, careless about their future, they believe it may come at a large cost, or they were told that now your only responsibility is to take care of your wife and kids.

It is very important to note down our current state, In every vertical how we handle the situation, we should first write down. Then we should continuously put innocent effort on it. We should note down what can we do better to make things better.

Taking an example we go to meeting. Generally many people go with blind idea. They don't have any idea what to expect. What could be their question?

Many people struggle with asking good question is only because they prepare for meeting. They come blind and then what they learn they forget within few days. But if you do two thing like noting down what the intention of the meeting and second what my question should be. Few meetings agenda you may not be aware but most of the meeting agenda and what to expect we know. I think when meeting is planned ahead, you must prepare well to draw best out of it.

Finally I remember the tag line of Reliance i.e. growth is life. What is your intention in your life. Think and comment.

Taking Ownership for Happiness


This is how people react when not owning responsibility
I own a house. How do we feel when we say this sentence. We get two kind of senses:
1. Feeling of enjoyment or proud or feeling valued
2. Sense of responsibility

There are above two part of everything we have. We can use the home for sleeping, for celebrating any function, we can use for cooking and many other. But at the same time, if there is any damage into home, we have to fix it. We have to be serious about it otherwise the consequences we will have to face. It is not that we feel sad when we do repair. In fact we feel happy to fix it. and consider it as our part of life.

In corporate world, everyone want to be seen as good, successful, or a person who never makes mistakes or always take correct decision, do their work on or before time. Is it really possible to be a person doing work without doing any mistake ever. We all are human being. We are tend to make mistake. 

If we make mistake who will own it. Since most people work in a team, they get a scope to blame others or deny their mistake. But just think if you are head of your family, can you deny your mistake. Why don't we accept mistake and then correct it. If we don't acknowledge mistake, we can never fix them.

The problem with not taking ownership is, we never feel attachment with work. We always look for our last day salary. When we do the work, our only intention is to throw the ball in others net. This way you never get the happiness since you are not attached with work. But if we take ownership of work, the magic will start happen.

We will feel very happy when we complete our work. When you leave office there will be sense of satisfaction. Your work which contribute a large part of time your spent, will be highly utilized and you will feel highly satisfied. if you make mistake you can accept your criticism and you can understand that rejection of your suggestion is merely rejection of your idea rather than you. You will be open for feedback. Open for positive criticism.

When we start taking ownership, we start looking at problem from different perspective. You try to learn some new skill even if it doesn't fall in to your work scope. You approach all other share holder and bring them on table. We try to share our learning with team so that team can perform better. Your approach to problem will be different. You don't want to put any burden on others for your work. You become open to suggestion and help.

In fact our small steps like not doing litter, urine, throw garbage in public place. These baby steps have power to transform India. But for that you need to attach yourself with India as your motherland and you are responsible to keep it clean.

Objective for making India#1

Nobel prize winner Kailash satyapathi has once said, "India has hundred of problems and millions of solutions." Our team TOTAL always believe that we can contribute solutions to problems India has. So who are are and what we are doing and why?

Ian faria is our common factor among us. We joined Ian faria to learn how to grow in life. In between we thought of a group to make changes in the society. We formed the TILT group which stands for the Indian leadership think thanks. Our only intention is to MAKE India #1.

Out of the all people who have common belief that making India #1 is their sole purpose formed the GROUP TILT. Out of this group we have a team of few people and highly intellectuals who are interested in self growth in the group TOTAL. Forming the group was the first step for growth. Next we decided to grow each other.  The group consist of people from various vertical. they belief that we growth based on what kind of society we have around.

It all started with setting goals for the day, week, month, years. I thought it is just another goal settings exercise but it brought miracle. There was someone in the group who is your friend and following up on your goal. Also we shared so many inspirational video showing the importance of having goal settings and then completing it. In between when I was discussing with my manager about my drawback, He told me about ownership. That open my eyes again. I heard this word before but never thought about it. 

Now whatever I do, I take my ownership. It is building mutual trust. In between I read article by Kayan on of TILT Group member, talking about challenging yourself everyday. Awesome article. You see we have so many layers to support our growth. First me, then my team total and then tilt group finally Ian. All people are doing awesome in my life. One of our advantages is that we have a leader who is countless times better than us that is Ian Faria. He is open to share his experience and learning. Do you think what motivate us is our self growth? No. We are bound by commitment to grow each other. We are following word of Martin Luther king where he says if you can't run, crawl. We are committed for making small/big goal and then achieve it. We are ensuring if we can't change society completely at least we will go for small improvement by all ways possible.

There are two ways to grow, either you push someone and other is to pull someone. Push is something like lecturing. In our early days of our life when our elder will say that if you don't this, you won't get this despite the fact that they were not in a position to lecture. At that point of time, I use to belief them and not 100% convinced. But when you grow and reach mountain, you can always pull people at base of mountain.

Here in this group I feel that the only objective is grow India. We want to follow the concept of pulling our fellow citizen. We don't know if we will pull everyone but we want to pull at least one and that is my concept of India#1 To make it happen, we need to activate our intellectual sleeping cells of our brain.

Handling issue in Indian Family [For Male]

Marriage is very serious life changing event. I know several of my friend suffered a lot in their marriage. Some still believe that marriage is life time contract and some believe you have to keep your wife happy and many things.

Indian man value marriage more than anythings. But few relations are born to be incompatible so nothing to worry.

I will handle 7 problem in this article which any common house where man is suffering:
1. what should be your relationship with your wife:
You may be knowing husband and wife compliment each other. This mean a lot. Think about all work in your house and divide between you and your wife like cooking food and keeping your home clean is her responsibility.
You may be observing she is not doing it with responsibility. She may be not cooking when your parents are there. She may be saying she won't cook if your friends are coming. You may get furious but be calm. Understand the first principle. Compliment her. If she doesn't want to cook, hire a cook. If she doesn't want to clean the house, Hire a maid. This will bring peace in your home.

2. Whether I should give money to her
No and never. Give her money needed and you must know when does she spend. Dont give more money than she need and you too feel she must have like you are expecting some item to your home, you have to pay so give that much. Keep some emergency money at home.

3. Should I share finance info
Please don't involve your wife in it. If she is a great investor then may be fine but never otherwise. You think about your wife as your kid and giving information irrelevant to her wish corrupt her. She will try to guide you and she will ask further question.

4. Should I force her on what she doesn't want
Please respect your wife. Never ever force her on anything. Until she doesn't want it will never happen.

5. Should you praise her
Yes you must praise her. Never complaint about her. You must say half glass is full rather saying half glass is empty.Similar how ugly she is , you must say the better part of her. You may say she look sexy when she sweat out or do exercise. man becomes man with challenges while woman becomes woman by praises. So keep praising her everytime even you are angry. You must be like shiva and listen her.

Success Stage

Success is what? Is it getting more salary? Is it getting more work done? Or is it getting more of everything ?

Success has various stages:
1. Bestage (Beginning Stage) - Beginning Stage is when your face serious problems in your life and you look some angel to resolve your problems. You pray to god and ask for help and they share their experiences. You don't whether to try of now and then you think of simply follow since you don't know the better option. During this stage you feel you are immature to handle your problem. Then one day you decide to learn the root cause of the problem to fix it. You start looking for all great book on the topic on either google or amazon. This is what I generally do. You search for all life coaches and interact with them for your learning to take stepping stone for your success.

2. Costage (Confident Stage) - When you work for yourself and grow your skill sets and know how to handle any challenges in your life. During this stage, you become self confident. You learn various skills set enough to solve problem and at least mitigate your problems. You know if you find a problem whom to talk or what to read or what to do. You start using the power of concious mind and then programme it to benefit you.

3. Shastage (Sharing Stage) - This is the sharing stage when you share your learning with the world. You use your learning to heal the world. You give guidance to people in need. You grow them enough to replace you and then you grow further. Shastage is the most important stage when the fruits you can see and people will recognise as successful person. You feel on top of the world. Many people thank you directly or indirectly. You write book to share your knowledge. You join politics to implement your policies to benefit masses. You become life coach to grow everyone further. You create new concept and help people get rid of old stuff.

7 Key learning from "The Private Life of Chairman Mao"

I always wondered how politian learn politics? Politics is ideally a good word which means it is all about implementing your or your party policies and thats it. But in today's case it is all about ruling.

This book is ideally for those who want to learn about ruling by hook or crook something like dictator. But this is not only limited to politics but it is also about how to excel in your field say what to do if you want to be great manager or CEO or at any responsible book.

I loved this book. We always wonder how high level people live their life or how do they do politics and how they ensure if someone is fired from the party it doesn't create a problem to anyone.

I will give glimpse of the book. Dr. Li was working in Australia and later decided to move to China which was getting ruled under Mao. He was working under his boss Wang. Wang recommended him as personal physical to Mao Zedong.

Apart from political stuff I learnt a lot about life. I am going to discuss about my learning from the book.

1. Neverever make decision in haste when you are going to take big risky decision.


Dr. Li was working and doing well in Australia as doctor. He heard from news paper Mao is ruling the China and China was under communist rule. Li was married and he was skeptical about situation in China and still he believed that China is good under Mao. Rather than doing more investigation he believed one of the people there in China and moved. That brings disaster for himself. Entire book he is living a scary life. Every word he has to be very careful and very worried. Even he did everything right but still he had been sent for hard labour. He was forced to speak every single event of his life to Mao. He was scared for his wife and kids all the time including his own life. His decision without proper thought he brought into problem everyone in the family including his mother, wife and kids.

2. You may or may not get your dream BUT you can always do your best. Your BEST will always bring you out of problem in your life


Dr. Li became Mao's personal physician and then his role was to travel with him. In general, Mao use to get Cough and Fever. To solve these problem he worked really hard on these diseases. He always wanted to be a neurosurgeon but since he stuck in China and specially as Mao's personal physician he had no more choices so he started giving his full attention to his work. Due to giving his best, Mao was very much relying on him. That is the reason during his service to Mao for 22years, he was sent to Hard labour and countryside for social work and living with peasants as punishment was removed and called back to service. Mao only trusted him for his diseases and he was always doing his best in his job.

Not only that,, when Mao's wife was behind him for assassination, he stayed with Factory employee and during that time he look after those peasant and they saved his life in return. It means his work pay him back in large. Due to his best work, Mao had to change his order and finally saved his family in many stances.


3. Be trustworthy and have integrity

Dr Li was very much confidant of Mao hence Mao use to reveal many his next political steps to him. Since he has integrity and he was not revealing anything to anyone other than his boss to whom he must have to share info.
During one instance Dr. Li's wife had to go country side for social work, Dr Li can't take care of his sons since he had to give service to Mao as well. Dr Li talked to his boss Wang, and say what kind of master I have who is not concerned about my family despite I am giving my day and night for my boss and Finally Wang talked and called her wife back immediately. Since he was trust worthy, His boss Wang and Mao both saved him many times.
Mao had insomnia and also he can't be make a woman pregnant and these secret are with Mao. Mao was worried about these secrets to be known to other fellow partymen since he had sexual relations with huge number of young woman in China. That is the reason Mao never changed his doctor. Dr. Li never shared these thing with anyone in party or outside party.

4. Family is the most important thing

Love your family and do what you can do. Dr. Li suffered a lot during cultural revolution. His wife told him not to come to home. And also don't do suicide since it may bring more problem to family. Mao's wife was behind Dr. Li to brand him as traitor and arrest him. Dr. Li ensures he doesn't go to home as he may get arrested there and brand him as traitor. He fought with official to protect his family to his best. That is the love I am impressed with.


5. Whatever situation stand by your opinion if you fully convinced with it

There were several occasion in Dr. Li career while serving Mao as personal physician, when he had to take stand for his conscious mind. He was under tremendous pressure to bend for other political power in CPC(Communist Party of China) but he stand by his knowledge. In fact on medicine related question he countered Mao too which was very rude but correct according to him. Many political power in the Party called him arrogant. But due to his way to defending his opinion, Mao trusted him a lot and for any medicine related query, Mao always take his opinion as final opinion.
This trust in Dr. Li, Mao was forced to bring him back from any kind of hard labour or serving country side. In fact due to Mao trust in him, his enemies were curbed by Mao.

6. Primarily enhance your skills according to your role not knowledge


On several occasion Mao was under pressure from his party men something like Great leap forward and cultural revolution. He wanted to fire his enemies from party and punish them hard. It was not easy for him directly. He used to dismiss them indirectly. To learn how to punish his enemy, he was not reading books on humanity and other. He wanted to be dictator and to remove his enemies he used to read book on Dynasty. He wanted to understand how dynasties rule china for 200 or 500 years. He was reading books of whom he was most critic in public.

The same way when we want to be manager we have to enhance our managerial skills. We should know how to gather control over our companies. How to push our ideas into our companies.How to fire non-performing or non-aligned employee.

7. Write a book

Dr. Li was reluctant to write this book since he doesn't want to lie and he doesn't want to speak truth as well and worst part of China. But he was way forward for many people. We as a reader could have never known of what is behind china and how do they run propaganda. In fact even our politian also use many of tools present in this book. As a reader you can understand what is propaganda and what is truth. At least you can re-think about following our some of over smart leaders or managers or anyone else.

7 keys check before or after buying a Flat in Bangalore

In Bangalore, it is quite common that builder cheats general buyer.They promise a lot of amenities but deliver very few. They promise A khata or Occupancy Certificate(OC) but do not deliver on it. They change their words based on their comfort. Generally they lie or hide truth with their vented interest.

As a buyer you need to check some facts otherwise they will hound with loss of money

1. Get copy of plan approval

You keep a checklist and tick as suggested below:
1. Plan approved for how many floor? and how many flats?
2. Does all besom approval is in place?
3. Are they promising BSWWB water supply, Gather all such documents.
4. Do they have approval for all lifts otherwise once you occupied, lift maintenance will be big mess.

2. Get receipt of every additional work

Generally we do a lot of modification. All modification comes at a cost. Initially all builder says many things are free. But during final settlement they add all these stuff at their own mercy.

Please listen to their employee but never trust orally. Get it written. It will save a lot of money they will charged after. Remember the employee doesn't stay in company for longer time. They stay for 1 years and then they leave so what they promise has not value if done orally. What they write is all important for builder so be on safer side and get all additional and negotiated price in written format. If you paid something, get receipt and for what additional work.

3. Cross verify all approval

You have to cross verify all your document. Hire a private lawyer and discuss with them your work. Generally they answer your question more efficiently.

Talk to them and understand how to verify the documents. These days all builder are offering swimming pool but generally they lie on it. Please get it verified too. Otherwise once association is formed you all have to pay fine for it.

4. Know your mates and communicate

The people you can trust most is your co-buyer of properties. Be in touch with them through facebook or whatsup. Create a group and throw your concern and your input. It helps a lot. Organise a regular meeting with builder and understand the work progress. You MUST know that a builder first concern is that they wants to sell their flat as soon as possible. In those cases, if they could sell all flats then they plan to deviate the approved plan and provide additional flats which as actually illegal. So you must that you are carefull.

Generally builder background is criminal or at least their mates are. Be carefull and don't take them directly. Form a group and meet and raise your concern and make decision collectively. You have to take care of family as well friends.

5. Keep all digital communication copy

When you will go for buying a flat you get a huge number of receipt and documents. They are very important. Keep a digital copy. Keep them in your google drive and others sources.

Keep them handy as well. You don't where which document will be required. There are chances that you may loose hard copy. Then you will be required to run poles to pillars.

6. Never delay payment

It is a big mess. Most builder do fishing by lying during this phase. When you will be buying your flat and if you see there is some delay during payment, generally all people communicate directly with builder and give excuse. Generally builder agree for delay orally. Buyer feel happy about builder. What a lovely builder.

But you must know they have accountant. He keeps all records. At the time of possession, they will add the delay fine and you will have no choice but to pay.

To escape from it. You may either pay on time or get permission to delay in written. Otherwise you can not escape the monetary loss which will happen later.

7. Be positive and polite

Finally a builder is also a human and he is doing a lot of favor to you by building flat for you and then giving you possesion. He does a lot to make your job easy. So be polite and thankful to him. He has lot of tension as he handle all contractors and labor and everyday listen to lot of complains.

Give him due respect and be polite while talking.But again be professional as you need to be on safer side. Try to understand their problem but while buying, do believe ear always believe eyes. That will make your money in safer hands.
